UNANDERRA PUBLIC Principals Message Amazingly we have reached the end of week six with many exciting events ahead to end the term. The P&C met last Monday evening and held their AGM as well as their regular monthly meeting. Congratulations to the successful nominations who now fill the executive positions. It is always a great opportunity to hear the thoughts of the school community and share the achievements of the students and teacher of the previous month. As you will have seen the K-2 Easter Hat Parade will be held on Thursday 1 April. Further details of this wonderful event will be shared next week. The P & C have already begun advertising their Easter raffle to be drawn during the Easter Hat Parade. A mufti day will be held on Thursday 18 March to gather Eater donations for the raffle. Ongoing safety measures remain in place to minimise the risk of COVID-19 transmission in schools. We have had recent advice that restrictions have eased and that many activities can be resumed from next week. I ask that parents and carers remain patient with us as we work together to develop COVID-safe practices that ensure everyone’s safety. Further advice will be shared next week. NSW Health and NSW DoE advise that schools should continue to complete COVID-safe plans for school events where more than 50 adults are gathering. It is still important that we all remain vigilant in implementing COVID-safe practices in our schools and workplaces. Some level of restrictions and guidelines will remain in place for schools for some time. UPS staff thank all families for the support and flexibility that they have shown throughout this pandemic. I wish you all a great fortnight ahead. Kind Regards, Anissa Rajendra 1SC have been learning all about belonging. We have learnt all about ourselves and what makes us unique. Check out our awesome portraits we did with Mrs Constantine. 1SC have also been learning about inclusivity and friendships. We had a fantastic time in the Life Education van with Healthy Harold! We danced, laughed and enjoyed learning about being a good friend with Harold’s Friendship space adventure! As a soft breeze swayed the green leaves of the gum trees, 4W sat down in the yarning circle. Situated near Grandfather Mountain, we observed the beautiful nature around us. We saw pee wees, kookaburras, galahs and rainbow lorikeets. We also saw plants like kangaroo paws and lots of gum trees. Everyone loves the yarning circle because it is a place of peace, happiness and relaxation. Our school yarning circle is entirely made out of natural materials such as gravel, sandstone rocks and logs. We are so lucky to have such as beautiful yarning circle. By Leanne 4W Sitting beneath Grandfather Mountain is the yarning circle. It is a place of peace and mindfulness. On Friday, 4W was observing and contemplating the nature of the yarning circle. We saw some amazing birds such as galahs, myna birds, pee wees, rainbow lorikeets and the king of the bush – the kookaburra. Did you know that the yarning circle is made out of all natural materials? By Sophie 4W Last Friday, we visited the yarning circle. The yarning circle is where you can listen to the sounds of nature. There was a little breeze and lots of native plants. When we were looking at the kangaroo paw, birds flew above the treetops and over our heads. There were galahs, cockatoos, finches, myna birds, pee wees and rainbow lorikeets. We even saw a tree which had small, bright orange berries. 4W sat on logs and rocks made from sandstone. We saw ants carrying food and lizards scurrying under rocks. Unfortunately, the current COVID guidelines in place from the Department of Education simply do not allow this evening to go ahead. In its place, we have made a special video featuring messages for all our incoming students and their parents. Please click on the link to get to know the key staff who will be working with Year 7 students in 2022. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Old54RhAKY2SHQwFKJqgnRYHpoy6EWvv/view?usp=sharing We know that many of you will be disappointed not to be able to have the tour of the school that we always hold at this time of year. We look forward to meeting you all soon. *Please note to view this properly you will need to click the download option on the top right and enable external content.
