UNANDERRA PUBLIC Principals MessageDear Parents/Carers, Welcome to the final school week of 2020. Although the year has been filled with some challenges, I am enormously proud of our inspiring teachers and staff, our kind and caring family and friends and our absolutely wonderful school students. Our school proudly promotes and encourages both the public and more private achievements of all of our students. It is important that as adults we work together to support each child in our school community. I also ask that all parents and friends continue to be mindful when communicating with one another and all of our children at all times, to ensure that all interactions are respectful and courteous. Once again, I thank the whole school community for their enormous efforts throughout this year in all that they have offered and contributed to our great school. As the year draws to an end it is important that we acknowledge and thank all of the staff at Unanderra P.S for their incredible hard work and dedication to public education. There are some staff members who I wish to particularly pay special tribute to in this final newsletter for 2020. Mrs Blanch has been teaching at UPS for a number of years and has been instrumental in ensuring that our students transition into stage three with a love of learning and an enthusiasm to explore the world around them. Mrs Blanch has created fabulous memories for the children and staff at UPS, in particular the School Sport, whole school and Stage 3 initiatives and events. We are very appreciative of these opportunities and we wish her all the very best in the future. Mrs Mc Leod has spent many hours working with children on a one to one basis and in small groups to target learning in the area of Literacy and Numeracy for our EAL/D students. We acknowledge her contributions to the New Arrivals program and her overall individual support to students in our mainstream classes. Mrs McLeod has provided many children with a positive start to school and welcomed them into the school community with passion and dedication. We all thank you and wish you well in the future. Miss Shanahan has been successful in securing a temporary teacher position at a rural public school. We have valued her hard work in developing a future focused approach to teaching and thank her for her contribution and dedication to the students at UPS. We wish her well in her future endeavours. Mrs Prior has created fabulous memories for all of the children K-6 and in particular our Stage 2 students. We thank her and express our great appreciation to her for the outstanding contribution that she has made to Unanderra Public School. We congratulate her on her new temporary engagement at Mt Warrigal Public School. Ms Barclay has been teaching Stage 2 this year working year and the students and families are very grateful for the work she has done. We thank her for her commitment to Unanderra Public School and her strong advocacy for the students that she teaches. We wish her all the very best in her future endeavours and look forward to hearing how her year is progressing. Mrs Hamilton has been teaching Stage 2 this year and has been teaching at our school for a number of years. Next year Mrs Hamilton will be teaching at another school closer to home. We thank her for her commitment to Unanderra Public School and wish her all the very best in her future endeavours. I wish you all a happy, safe and restful school holiday break and look forward to seeing you all in the New Year ahead. Kind Regards, Anissa Rajendra COLOUR EXPLOSIONThe students at UPS had a fun and colourful afternoon last Thursday, during our Colour Explosion. Students got to run around the playground, going through 5 different stations of water, powder and bubbles. After the colour run, the students got to sit with their peers and enjoy a nice cold ice block. Graduating Class of 2020!It was wonderful to celebrate the final year of primary school with our exciting Year 6 Graduation Assembly this Monday. While there were plenty of tears, lots of happy memories were shared and all students showcased their wonderful behavior and school citizenship. A sincere thank you to all of the Stage 3 teachers and support staff for their effort in putting together a brilliant celebration. Congratulations to the Year 6 class of 2020!
